New motor for a 1996 grand prix?

Can i motor swap a 3.4l dohc to a 70's 445ho in my 1996 grand prix?

  • Just need any and as much information as needed. Like where to begin and if it's even possible

  • Answer:

No. Your 1996 Grand Prix is a front wheel drive car with a relatively compact V-6 engine. A Pontiac 455 inch V-8 was made to fit in a rear-wheel drive vehicle. There's no way you're going to make it fit in a front-wheel drive car. On second thought, there is ONE way you could make it happen, and that's to convert the whole car to rear-wheel drive... Of course, it would cost several THOUSANDS more than the car is worth in the first place, and you'll probably never get it to run and drive properly, but if you have a really STUPID amount of money to throw away... it can be done.

Anything is possible with money as far as cars go From a strict mechanical viewpoint you can do the swap as long as you do all the fabrication needed such as converting it to rear wheel drive and replace parts like the :trans motor mts wiring among others. You can swap that motor as long as it won't be registered in a location that requires emission inspections as it won't pass. But as they say there may be loopholes in your area.

Not possible under $30,000. Also, I never heard of a 445ho before. What exactly is it?
