What do you think of the Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI?

  • I'm wondering about buying a 2003 model of this car. Are they reliable? What is the fuel economy like? What are the pros and cons of this car?

    1 timing chain tentioner fail causing damage to head 2 fuel systems have faults pumps / injectors 3 the engine usualy rattles there are various causes 4 dual mass fly wheel verry poor when it fails it usualy damages the clutch and starter motor usual cost of replacements £1000 plus alot of these cars are company cars or taxis so buy with care

good engines shite bodywork... it will rust before your very eyes..and fall apart..then you have to go to a ford dealer for parts, and be served by a spotty moron who will treat you with contempt... and supply yoou with the wrong parts.. oh, it must be onteh changeover model... and you will only be able to buy the parts which break/wear from fords at their exhorbitant prices... save yourself a fortune, buy a volvo... itll last longer and outperform the ford any day of eh week... ive got a 20 year old volvo 2.4tdi.. does 40mpg and cruises at 85-90 all day long... and if you buy a 2003 ford, my volvo will still be on the road long after your ford is in the scrapyard... ask any volvo owner..

the mondeo is just as good as any other car of its class as long as it has a history service and not been round the clock it will be fine, but do be carfull to check it well. as some are ex reps cars

Seriously? How about a nice VW Passat, or a Volvo v40/50, or even a Skoda Octavia. Each one about a hundred times safer and more reliable (and actually more economical on fuel) than a Mondeo.
