  • Answer:

umm the best way to study is without any distractions. close everything (tv, computer, cellphone(dont text while you study), and take a practice test. You will get more accurate results this way and know what you have to work on. the shsat isn't hard if you practice and read the strategies on the Kaplan book. (it really helps!!) as for practice test, since i really didnt have the patience to do them at home by myself, i usually did the ones the tutoring gave me, which came from a wide variety of books, like barrons, kaplan, and princeton. The practice tests on barrons books are really helpful, because they are more difficult than the test. the tests in kaplan are often either too easy or just right. (p.s.-- i got a 586)

However much you study, just remember that you'll have to study equally hard, if not more, when you get to Stuyvesant in order to maintain an average average.

I'm not too sure if using SAT books will help you. I never used those but then again my score was not extremely high. I am pretty sure that most of the people in Stuy did not use SAT books -they may just confuse you more than you need to be Go to your teachers and show them the type of math that is on the test and find out what math books you can purchase to supplement the prep books you already bought -review your course notes of course kaplan i know gave a really big book with ALOT of problems in the back do those PRACTICING will help you do not worry about actual grades on practice tests because they are always harder than the actual test so just learn from them and even if you got the answer right go back and look to see how the book explains all the different answer choices did you get the test that the DOE gives out? those are pretty helpful because they are from the actual testmakers *you should not put too much pressure on yourself because you obviously invested a lot of time in prepping for this test and do not want it to go to waste by becoming nervous on test day Good Luck

UR MOM

Well, everyone has their own techniques for studying, like, what works best for them, but if you are interested in trying something new, you can do what I do. 1) eat before you sit down to study 2) make yourself note cards with certain important points on them...question on the front, answer on the back 3) Have someone read your cards to you as you answer them. 4) go through and overview your books just to make sure you didn't miss anything that should be on a note card :o) GOOD LUCK!! Hope this helps

Take notes on the material and study them every night, even on weekends. Record yourself reading sections aloud and play them in your car. Make notecards Get a study buddy Make up ways to remember something. For example, I couldn't remember the symbol for the element Antimony, which is Sb. I just remembered Sponge Bob Antimony and it stuck! Hope I helped and God bless! :)
