How big of an engine could i put into my 96 dodge ram 1500?

    It all depends on your budget. You can shoehorn just about anything in there. It gets expensive fast. Fabrication, new drivelines, electronics, fuel delivery, upgraded suspension to handle the weight of a bigger powerplant, etc.

How big is your budget? Do you want a simple bolt in engine or do you mind changing transmission, electronics, gauges ect. If you replace the engine with anything but a stock option engine it will be much more difficult. say you decide to drop a wild 360 in, your stock computer system will have to be heavily modified. If you wanted to drop in a 440 it would not bolt up to the transmission currently in your truck. You would also have problems with your factory gauges. the other question is if your state does emission testing, if so stick to stock.

Depends on the money you want to spend, You can put at least a V10 engine in it. But you;ll need a new transmission to handle the power and new suspension to handle the extra load.
