This is a commendable idea. I don't recommend the Girl Scouts for volunteering with this as a friend ran into trouble providing her girl scout troop with such info. Maybe their attitude has changed since the 1980s though. Is there a Planned Parenthood near you (not sure about in Australia)? They may offer volunteer opportunities to educate teens. The other option might be to set up a website with links to sex education sites. Make it appealing to teens.

The problem is two-fold: presenting an approach that the kids will accept and presenting a program that the parents will agree to. Kids have this nasty tendency to feel they are smarter than anyone else, so the arrogance of "this won't happen to me" is tough to overcome. Parents distrust sex-ed classes, for tehy feel that their values are not represented (and they always feel the class is about technique, rather than information). You also have to face the fact that a woman's place is society is tightly defined. As long as a woman is an "easy Sheila", you will have a very tough sell on this indeed.

I live in the US but my husband taught sex-ed for the state in the schools. You need permission slips and the parents get hysterical about this subject. It is a subject fraught with pit-falls and you could get into a lot of trouble. I will just assume parents in Australia aren't much different. The Christians are the ones...

You can try and get a job at your local high school. They should have a sex ed class there.
