What are some good Spanish instrumental music?

What are some good instrumental music to listen to, at night?

  • I am looking to make a collection of instrumental music that I can listen to at night. It should be such that I put them in a playlist and start playing them when I go to bed and I gently doze off. For example, I listened to "swan lake" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swan_Lake for the first time today and I really liked it.

The possible answers to this question are endless, so I will limit my answer by breaking it down in to the following categories;  Jazz, Classical, and other.  Jazz is the easiest to start with.  Slow peaceful jazz is one of my favorites. the first one on this list has to be Wynton Marsalis's Standard time Vol. 3  the entire album. Here is a link to a sampling of all the tracks. http://www.allmusic.com/album/standard-time-vol-3-the-resolution-of-romance-mw0000689876 Another master of the softer side of Jazz was Stan Getz.  here's my favorite. It Never Entered My Mind Classical is a pretty easy category also.  the obvious answer is Chopin Nocturnes. If you prefer orchestral music you can play the second movement of any of the Beethoven Symphonies.  My favorite being no. 7. Other is tougher, especially for instrumental.  But here I would have to go with something by Four tet.  Here are two tracks from their album Pause Harmony One Hilarious Movies of the 90's Good night.

I personally like the app "songza" for these types of musical scenarios. My personal favorite when it comes to songza playlists is "downtempo instrumentals". You just hit play and you'll feel like your in a spa, or an awesome tea shop, or some sort of relaxing bubble for however long you want the music to play (hours if necessary) I use it when I'm studying, it has the perfect blend of beat and not-beat. Great focusing music. As a side note, in case you're not familiar with songza, the app makes playlists based on what activity you're doing or what mood you're in. So there are "music for working out" playlists, and "music for a trippy dance party" playlists, and "music for breakup blues" playlists, etc."

Where to begin? It depends on what you like best, I'll give you a few of my favoutites. Belle and Sebastian - Night Walk Also by Belle and Sebastian, this one's title is Fuck this Shit. (don't be alarmed by the title, it's quite peacefull sounding. A beautifull piece of music) Also, try anything by him. A "one man band" he uses mainly acoustic guitars, violin, viola, quiet drums and bass guitar. Very peacefull (i personaly like his album Departures) Message to Bears - Running Through Woodland To "gently doze off" there is nothing better than the mighty Sigur Rós. I'll let the music speak for itself on this one   Sigur Ros - Svefn-G-Englar Sigur Ros - Njosnavelin Some good post-rock might work for you too. God is an Astronaut are one of my favourites God Is an Astronaut - Forever Lost If this suits you, I recomend this album God Is An Astronaut - All Is Violent, All Is Bright (Full Album) Also a great post-rock band, relaxing and ispiring Explosions in the Sky - Your Hand in Mine This answer is getting to long so, i'll leave you with this magnificient piece by Tortoise.
