none of the above. a. There are animals with bigger brains, such as the elephant, whose brain weighs 6000 grams, compared to the 1350 grams of an adult human. b. There is no such thing as a soul. Rational thought is not restricted to humans, but it is more developed in humans than in other animals. c. Some animals are faster or stronger, but many are not, such as the sloth, which never moves faster than 2 mph. d. Animals and humans both have free will. Animals and humans both have intellect. See the response to b, above. If you are going to make a distinction between humans and other animals, using intellect and rational thought as the basis is a good beginning, but it is not an absolute. Anteaters have a long sticky tongue to get what they need to survive. Tigers have sharp teeth and claws to get what they need to survive. Humans have rational though to get what we need to survive. Anteaters and tigers have rational thought, but theirs are not as well developed because they have specialized other skills and tools for survival. We have teeth and claws and tongues, but our rational intellect is more developed than that of the anteater or the tiger. In a hostile environment, it is the nature of our species to use our intellect to solve the problems that we face and allow us to survive. So tongues, teeth, claws, and intellect are all measured on a continuum from the least to the most well-developed. Although we share them all with all animals, intellect is our area of specialization. Print out my answer and ask your instructor to explain it.

It's A. C. and D. Humans have rational MINDS, but are not always rational, just like animals. Animals are superior in natural capabilities than humans, and animals do have free will. It's just much more closely intertwined with instinct than our's is.

I would choose D. Because there are some animals with brains as big as the human body itself. But in comparison to to their bodies, our ratio is bigger. Animals can have a rational soul. Human beings are faster and stronger than some animals, like ants for example.
