Ghana was astonishingly safe; I spent three months there teaching and had absolutely no trouble and neither did the girls. They got a lot of attention (Especially the "larger" ones) but they could accept or deny that interest if they wanted to. I went with Travellers Wordlwide and they were fine. If they want the "true" experience (as in, not to live in a luxurious villa but somewhere a little less glamorous with no running water) they have to be sure to mention this, as travellers seem to think that girls can't stand a little dirt.
