What are the best ways to drive traffic to a website?

What are the newest and most unique ways to drive traffic to your website?

  • I'm talking about Off-Page SEO here. Please tell me new, unique and more creative ways other than guest posting, submissions or basically, link building and social media. Thanks!

  • Answer:

SQL injections. Hack a high PR website and hide your links in the source code so Google sees them but not the naked eye. Very blackhat ;) This is not the newest technique out there, but it sure is unique!

I find Tumblr accounts with 50k followers related to my topic. I then contact the owner and ask them if I can "sponsor" their page for a month for $50. On Instagram, pay to get a shoutout. $20 will get you 10k targeted visitors in a week.

Make some slides and video presentation for your site and upload these on various slide sharing sites. It's a new technique. My personal advise is that think about any different idea related to your daily routine and then try to convert this idea for bringing traffic through Social media and guest posts.  Don't be a person who always talk about his brand and website. People are not interested in listening to you without their own benefits. Try to be informative and funny. There is no new techniques but you can use old methods differently according to your needs. This is the master key for success.

One of the most unique methods to drive traffic is to use “The Skyscraper Technique.” This isn’t a hack but a simple method to create great content. recently wrote up the entire method (http://okdork.com/2014/04/02/how-you-can-create-content-that-generates-40000-targeted-visitors/) on my blog http://OkDork.com/blog. I can’t think of a better answer than what he’s already outlined. Here are the three steps: Step #1: Find existing great content. Step #2: Take what you find and make it even better. Step #3: Reach out to the right people to promote it. Now, this might seem like saying, “Build it…and they will come.” But the genius of the method is that it takes the guess work out of it. Using tools like Buzzsumo (http://buzzsumo.com) you can quickly find the most shared content on a specific topic or keyword. Instead of spending hours writing long blog posts and then wishing that someone will find, this method almost guarantees traffic—and not just any traffic but targeted traffic. This method will help you… Save time by finding content that already works but needs to be refreshed, redesigned, or rewritten. Learn and know what has already been written (making you an expert in the process) and contribute valuable content that expands on the work of others. Drive traffic by creating more high quality content than your competitors and finding which platforms work best for your audience (e.g. Pinterest, Reddit, etc). And connect with the movers and shakers in your niche while getting qualified traffic. Beyond finding successful content and repurposing it (you can read how to do that on the blog post), Step #3 (“Promote your content”) works like this… Because you’ve already found other great content you know the sites to tell about your post. Also look for sites that can gain valuable insights but aren’t focused exclusively on that topic. Go outside of your niche and find groups that can use what you’ve written. Other ways to drive traffic: 1. Reverse engineer the traffic to similar content using Moz’s http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/. 2.  Thank You emails: In your content mention influential people, quote them, reference a talk they gave, or a post they wrote. Then send them a note thanking them and provide a link to the content/post. 3. Promote on Forums: If you want to find niche readers head to the forums. It’s best to be an active member and contribute more than just your own content—but don’t neglect forums just because you want a quick win.

When it comes to traffic my suggestion is to work with influencers. The reason is that influencers have large audiences, so if you are looking to get exposure fast, you have to think about shortcuts, which is to leverage another person's audience that they spent months/years building. It can also be done on 0 budget and does not take as much of a time investment as say, social media. As for other traffic generation techniques, we have curated a list of 126 traffic case studies here: http://ninjaoutreach.com/traffic-generation-case-studies/ In my opinion case studies are THE best way to learn how to generate traffic because they summarize actual techniques, processes, and results.

Sales Funnel: 1. Write an article that effectively pitches a product or a service. (you can be the owner of the product or simply use affiliate link) 2. Drive Facebook ADS (or any other ads) to this page and see if you get enough sales to cover your ads expenses. I have tried it with this article on my blog: http://bloggerjet.com/email-conversion-rate/ I don't have exact numbers yet (I'm working on proper tracking right now), but from what I can tell, my ad spend is pretty much covered with revenue from sales. So I'm getting paid traffic for free :)
