    Stagman, you know there is this huge area North of Camp Pendleton don't you? Most people call it the "State of California" (since Pendleton is pretty "right on the border compared to how big the country is). It's too bad that you don't know about things like the Kern River. Anyway back to our question. I know there are places in the Los Padres Natonal Forest near Santa Ynez (kind of Santa Barbara wine country). I have been to them... but I couldn't tell you exactly where they are so, you will have to begin your google search. - don't if they always exist or disappear during drier years. Also, there are waterfalls, don't know about swimming holes, outside of Pasaadena, in the San Gabriel Mountains.

Uh the kern river is in central california near san fransisco and sacramento. I had to google it to even find it since I've never even heard of it until now. maybe ask in a more relevant topic like the SF one or some city a lot closer to it. Cause here in San Diego (which is again no where near it) we usually either swim in the ocean or a pool
