Where do you like to go in Philadelphia?

Where to go? Philadelphia or Washington DC?

  • My mom and I are going to go away for a few days mid-June, we have narrowed it down to either Philadelphia or DC, where should I go? Can you suggest some attractions, hotels, ...show more

  • Answer:

If you have money to spend, go to Philly. The historic spots and museums are great. Don't forget to go to the original Gino's or Pat's. If you don't have money to spend, go to DC. All of the museums and Monuments are completely free

Of the two cities I would visit the Washington D.C. area also and I live in Phila. For example we have a great art museum but the entrance fee is roughly $15 per person the National Gallery is Free and has 3 seperate buildings the Modern Art, Classical Art and the National Portrait Gallery which is several blocks away. I would suggest that you take the Washington by night tour through Grey Lines your first day there. Great tour and I thought I knew so much about DC I learned things as well. New York avenue towards the water becomes US 50 east there are hotels in that area that are as much as 70 dollars per night cheaper than downtown.

The national mall (some museums are free) and national zoo (free) in DC.

The lesser of two evils would be Washington DC. National Harbor has the Gaylord hotel that is very nice and there is a lot to see around DC. Plus, Philadelphia is only an hour or so away.
