If I send an email to someone I don't know very well with a request of some sort and don't receive any response, how long should I wait before sending them a 'reminder' mail? Also, how can I phrase my reminder mail?

I'm very often in a situation where I initiate contact with someone I don't know very well and don't hear back from them. There's always a chance that they missed or forgot about my email, and I'd like to send them a non-intrusive reminder. When should I email such a reminder and how should I phrase it?

Answer:
In my personal opinion and what has always worked for me is that you should wait for a week before you send the reminder. The reminder should a one liner suggesting you are awaiting their response on your trailing email. If you still don't receive any response on reminder, the person may simply not be interested in taking the conversation ahead. Tip: When I was applying for jobs & sometimes I did not hear back from the HR managers, I started using ' Boomerang' function for Gmail ( you can use 'read receipt' function if emailing using Outlook) which gives you a hint of whether the person has read your email or not. If the person has read your email & yet not responded, its usually obvious that the person doesn't wish to respond. Yet, that doesn't mean you should not send a reminder email. Hoping this helps

I recommend waiting two days after you send the initial email before following up the first time. Yeah, the first time. You'll probably need to follow-up more than once.If the person you're emailing is a totally cold lead, meaning you've never had any interaction with them, I recommend following up three times over 14 days. http://blog.close.io/cold-email-follow-up-plan?utm_campaign=codrake&utm_medium=quora&utm_source=quora. Day one - Initial contact: Send your initial email. Day three - First follow-up: Email at a different time of day. Send a shorter version of your first message. Day seven - Second follow-up: Email at a different time of day. Restate your call to action. Day fourteen - Third follow-up: Send http://blog.close.io/the-breakup-email?utm_campaign=codrake&utm_medium=quora&utm_source=quora. I hope this helped! I think you need to use email tracking app that will provide you info when your email was opened, how many times where, with what device and what links were clicked. That way you can understand when to send a follow up email or make call. I suggest you to try this app - http://www.contactmonkey.com/salesforce-gmail-integration. It's easy to use, install and configure.
