How can I get from Southern California to Northern California with my pet and no car?

If it's not "tomorrow" check out JetBlue airlines from Long Beach to Sacramento - just a note, If your sis won't drive the 1.5 hours to come get you there = you probably should not be moving to her as your escape route. The charge for the cat is $100 If you wait until next week you can get one-way fares for you in the $90 range (plus taxes) If you can wait until the end of the month, fares are in the $70 range (plus taxes). Another option is to review Craigslist rideshare = no where, near as safe = but an option if absolutely necessary

Would a friend, your sister, or someone your sister knows be willing to transport you and your cat? They might be willing to do it for $150. Maybe someone is doing the trip anyways. You never know -- ask around! If $150 is not enough, you can find whatever job you can and pay the person back. Or if it's someone in Chico, you can offer to clean, garden, babysit, etc. Try also asking this question in the Pets section. EDIT: Since your options are quite limited, one thing to consider is to find someone on Craigslist to transport the cat (while you take the bus and avoid "stranger danger.") It's far from ideal, but the ideal options appear off the table. Talk to the person first and make sure he/she seems to be responsible.

You can look for a ride share on Craigslist, or go by Greyhound.

Southwest will let you bring the cat, they will charge you an extra $75 though. http://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/traveling-with-animals/pets/index-pol.html Check out car rentals, look for coupons. I've seen ads in the Tranport section of craigslist, under Jobs, from people who just need a ride. There are trucks that drive up I-5 all day long and I bet you could catch a lift for under $100.
