What is pre-hire orientation with the usps?

Working as a CCA city carrier assistant at USPS?

  • I got the job orientation next week.. Any advices? Is it a good job? Fun? I'm excited..

  • Answer:

The big time high ups should carry mail with full circulars for a week if they really want to evaluate routes properly. Some of the ones in our office are absolutely not possible to do with the 6 hours of street time they want. My supers and PM are cool though, they are realistic and understand the job is difficult. I lucked out because I know many carriers who have nightmare supervisors and PMs. The OT is nice and for the most part my first year has been pretty good. Its a rough go at the start. There will be days when you want to quit or think wtf am I doing. My advice is to try and not get frustrated when you are out there. Hopefully you get an office with helpful carriers, an awesome OJI, and realistic supers like I did.

DanChikEn, can you tell us how your CCA job is going so far? I am debating whether to go to my interview. Thanks.

Corruption runs rampant within USPS. Seek employment elsewhere. Don't resort to a life of crime.
