There is Craigslist... but with this sort of thing the only free way of doing it is word of mouth. You might find that you can put an advert in your local paper if not for free then very cheap. When my granddad died we sold a lot of his old furniture in our local paper and it didn't cost but did have a strict word limit. You could also put adverts up in supermarkets like Tesco (It wont cost in Tesco but might cost a weekly fee in shops that are not massive chains).

Free advertising is free for a reason - it's usually not as effective as paid advertising. You can try posting on Craigslist, but many people don't feel comfortable with it anymore. I would imagine your business is pretty location-specific. Does your community have a neighborhood blog? The ads might be pretty inexpensive and they would go right to your target audience - people who live near you.
