Anyone ever booked a holiday by themselves with out a travel agent?

  • Hiya, i was just wondering if anyone has ever gone through those sites online, and made up and booked there own holiday, with out the (middle man) travel agents? if so, how was your ...show more

  • Answer:

You don't even need to use those sites. Find the hotel/resort you want and book direct ...... I even managed it in france and then booked other stuff/accom as I needed it. If holidaying in a country with English speeking folk, it's soooo easy. Also, if thnking of going somewhere like the USA you'll be ££££'s in, as the exchange rate is in our favour - go through a tour operator and they'll make more money out of you because of the strong pound.

I have never used a travel agent. I book my own flights, hotels, cars online and have never had any problems or issues over the past few years.

Yes quite often and with the Internet it is a really simple operation. Another benefit is you arrange your own insurance not an expensive deal forced on you by many travel agents.

all the time, why pay more. i'm off to legoland friday. booked flights with ryanair, booked hotel myself, hotel is supposed to be only 3km from airport so i will get a taxi and will probably walk to legoland on the two mornings, checked on google maps where everything was and should be possible. have also booked disneyland paris and flew to beauvais with ryanair, and got bus into paris centre. made way around public transport and got train to disney following day. have been to italy loads, and even though i have in-laws there, i go to rome on my own and have brought my own family and shown them around. was looking at cheap holiday to madrid in july and would have no problem going and finding my way around only something else came up. if you feel confident enough to use public transport and dont panic about anything, i recommend making up your own holiday and see how it goes. i wouldnt go to the likes of lastminute.com though or any of them, first check budget airlines and find cheap flight, then find cheap hotel nearby, just play it by ear, if your not too fussy about where you go you can get a real bargain. i know i have - lots of times.

I never use a travel agen or book online. I buy my tickets from the airline, and look for a hotel when I arrive where I'm going. That is pretty much the easiest thing to do.

I done it last year... very cheap!! flights with ryanair to italy for €140 and a week accomodation with hotels.com the whole thing just cost €400 ... would highly recommend it.... on the other hand you could try trailfinders travel agents they are really cheap and have really good deals which work out cheaper than doing it yourself ands they will organise everything for you....

I booked a flight to Alicante in Spain, when we got off the plane we hired a taxi and asked them to take us to a nice hotel, everything worked out brilliantly, although it was probably more expensive than booking a package deal. My friend always flies to Thailand and then finds a hotel when he gets there

Oh sure, I do it all the time when I'm going to travel and there's no hassle at all. You'll receive all the information you need on line and you can print out your ticket information when they email it to you. Here are some sites I use: www.orbitz.com www.southwest.com www.cheaptickets.com

I would never ever use a travel agent. You have a much wider choice of accommodation if you book online. Flights and car hire are also easy to book online. I have been taking self catering holidays in villas for years and have never once had any problems.

yes - do it all the time book flights online book accommodation online just remember to print everything out & bring it with you - in your handbag - not in your luggage - esp booking numbers & payment receipts. make sure the padlock is activated on the web page when you pay by credit card; read the fine print - once booked - cannot make changes re dates without a big hassle make sure you get travel insurance there really isn't much savings by going online - to using a travel agent such as Flight Centre. Maybe $10-$20 Travel agents also have more up market accommodation than what may be shown on web pages so always check the ****star ratings.
