    I would second Montenegro as well. Lovely beaches, nice hospitality and only an emerging tourist attraction so it still has a nice balance between offering good nightlife both for locals and tourists (and so not just tourist traps) but it's not inundated with the swarms of drunkard "got to get wasted" ilks Failing that you could read up about Bulgaria. I've had friends talking about how much they enjoyed it there, but it's not uncommon to hear of people going there anymore and I do fear (not sure as I haven't been there personally) that it might be on the same route as Croatia (and yes I agree with you on that score, shame as well).
