Despite the facts, that Rus': ~ "was born" in North Eastern Europe (between Novgorod and Kiev), ~ was founded by Northern people (proto-Rus', Scandinavian/Germanic, Finnish mix) -> Rurik & Co ~ possesses 40% of European continent, and only 29% of Asian continent ~ has 80% of Her entire population living in European part of Russia (+ Belarus' and Ukraine), and only 20% - in Asian ~ has >120 other ethnic groups, that make up ~20% of the entire population (some of which are not European); Ethnic Rus' people have R1a or I1 haplotypes ~ got a lot of Western/Northern European and even a bit Southern European (Italian) influence (architecture, music/classical, poetry etc) etc etc etc Rus' is RUS' country. Stop "classifying" us, digging some idiotic slanderous accusations made up by pseudo-historians & Co, incl their pathetic followers. Being Rus' to us means much more than anything else. Just like being (e.g.) American to Americans means much more than anything else, no matter what their ethnic background is. So you guys - both "Europeans" and "Asians" (well, and Americans, if you care that much) - can sleep peacefully. We don't need your "labels", ok? We have our name, it's enough for us.

Russians closer to Europeans than anything else. But some consider that the cultural difference is great enough to set them apart (which I also personally believe). But Russians are much father from Asians than from Europeans, so you definitely can't call them Asians. Geography doesn't mean anything really since the geographic border between Europe and Asia is pretty much virtual. And e.g. most of the territory is geographically in Asia, but 80% of the population is in Europeans part of the country.

Sure, "Europe" is just a label ...... Russia is the largest country in the world and so inevitably, it is transcontinental. Part is european, part is asian. Other countries like this are:Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan A country with funny geography is Spain. Obviously, the mainland is eu, but the Canary Islands are closer to North Africa. Malta is more or less in this category also.

1/4 of Russia is in Europe, and the other (Siberia) is in Asia. European Russia is usually more developed and contains all the world cities, like Moscow and St Petersburg. However, some parts of siberia are quite developed too. So I geuss you could say that Russia is 'Eurasian'

Ok, metaphorically speaking (in terms of "The Lord of the Rings'" geography) Russia is a Europe's (the Middle-Earth') Gondor which is waiting for its Aragorn king. LOL Yes, it's bordering Mordor. Yes, it is occupied by the ugly Orcs but it is still the Middle-Earth.

Russia is in Asia.

That is not actually correct as a European country is not defined by its currency. For example, the UK is in Europe but it does not have the Euro and Switzerland is in Europe and is not a member of the EEC.

From the geography Europe ends at the Ural mountains, but 80 % of the population lives in the European part. From the culture all European countries have their own distinctive history and culture. I have traveled in Europe, Asia, China, India and North America. When you travel in Russia you absolutely feel in a European culture. The differences between Germany and Spain are larger the between Russia and Germany. I consider the Russian culture a significant part if the European culture.

Russia has always developed separately from all, Europe was cooked together in one pot, they fought each other and sometimes were friends, while Russia had their problems from different sides - from the east, from the north, from the south, everywhere! if you take the original Russia, before the era of the czars - then this is Europe, but when the czars decided to "conquer the east - the wild empty lands" as they thought, it was that lived there different backward peoples, which formally became a part of Russia, since that time Russia was located in Asia, but the European part of Russia keeps its European traditions, keep and will carry through the ages ..
