How do you make wax roses out of real roses without them turning brown?

  • my class is trying to sell wax roses for v.day....well we tried waxing some fresh cut roses. we dipped them in hot wax and blowed on them to dry them. at first they looked great. well ...show more

  • Answer:

The roses need to be fresh and to have had ample water to drink beforehand. The wax must not be too hot, or it will scorch the roses. If you add a pale die to the wax it will help to mask any blemishes. Hope this helps you with your nice idea.

My mom used to make crepe paper roses and then dip them in paraffin wax. I think that might work better and be cheaper than using real roses. See below for making crepe paper roses: http://www.ehow.com/how_16356_make-paper-roses.html?a=flag
