Whats the best way to clean an oven?

  • my Oven doesnt self clean. I need to clean it but I dont want to get on my hands and knees and clean it. Anyone know the best way to clean an oven without any hard labor?

  • Answer:

I use baking powder,it works great. just put some in there, wait for 10 min. and then take a wet cloth and scurb, but you will not have to scurb hard. you may need to add more poeder to the real bad brunt spots. this works great, give it a try. i have been a housekeeper for 09 years,i have tried everything, but this really works

If you don't have a self-cleaning oven and don't want to replace the one you have, you don't have too many choices, either hire someone to clean it for you or use something and wipe it out yourself. The queen of clean says to Preheat oven to 200 degrees and leave it on for l5 minutes. Turn off and leave door closed.Put a shallow dish filled with ammonia on top shelf and on lower shelf a pan filled with 2 cups boiling water. Leave overnight. Take out in morning and make paste of 1 cup white vinegar, 1/2 baking soda and some ammonia. Spread paste over surfaces and leave for l5 minutes. Scrub with sponge and steel wool pad (if necessary), then rinse. She said it works even on heavily soiled ovens. Good luck-it's no fun!

The only way I know is to use oven cleaner.

Dorrie

Spray it with an oven cleaner, let it sit the length of time indicated on the label and then wipe it off. That's the least labor intensive way to clean it.

Are you kidding, it will require elbow grease, and try using a product called 'Gumption', its a hard paste. You can also try a mixture of vinegar and bi-carb soda and elbow grease. I would advise against using any chemical substances as they will penetrate the food you will be cooking in it later. Good luck and don't be so lazy you made the mess, clean up after yourself, its not that hard, surely.
