Hi! I know how bad it feels. I am sorry for what had happened? Before I go on any further, plz refer a doctor at the earliest, if u haven't till now. To mask the sound, listen to a MP3 player. Try to deviate your mind from it. Its always present, u should try to get used to it. Dont bother about it. Good thing is that tinnitus does not harm u. It just keeps bothering u, but as I said does not damage your ear. For some, even dizziness and hearing loss can be there. Be happy that ur's is good enough. Let me tell u there is no permanent cure for this. U have to accept it. However, see a Head and Neck Surgeon or Ear, Nose, Throat Specialist to rule out if there is any cause for this problem. For yur information, tinnitus maskers are available which produce good sound that masks the ringing sound in your ears. Check for side effects of any drugs which u r taking? Sometimes tinnitus can be produced as a side effect of drugs. Good luck. Please let not the tinnitus interfere with your work. Keep going! All the very best.

I started getting tinnitus years ago from listening to loud music and being around machinery all day, I guess. I found that ear plugs help. I also do this thing where before sleeping, I press the palms of my hands against my ears, enough so I can hear my heart beat. After a while, it creates a womb-like experience and I eventually fall asleep. After a few days of doing this and using ear plugs and reducing exposure to noise, I noticed that the tinnitus stopped. Sometimes, I would have to stop this exercise and also take out the ear plugs to avoid pain. I read somewhere that the ear drum is a very delicate organ inside your ear that is a somewhat bone like structure, so I also made sure I was getting enough calcium - don't know if that helped (I also had to make sure I wasn't consuming too much of anything that would interfere with the calcium intake, like alcohol, tobacco or meds. They say there is no cure for tinnitus, but I sure found one and have been tinnitis free for years now. Hope all this helps and it works for you too. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!

there are a lot of causes for this to happen. as was posted already . meds WILL do this a lot of the time . the most common reason is the noise level you are exposed to an a daily basis. another way is usually found due to an inner ear infection creating pressure on the ear drum and since the ear drum is always moving it causes the ring. you didnt mention any other symptoms that may be going with it , such as dizzy ? nausea? balance being off but not enough to cause the previous. you didn't mention that you play in a band ( and this doesn't mean a rock band , this means any kind of band ) like school, country , rock . or per say you work as a roadie for a band ? you also didn't say if you have been sick in the past week or say since about 7 days before this started . you also didn't say how long this has been going on. it could also be caused buy going up and down a hill every day that causes an air pressure difference? the reason i have said all of this is because i DO play in a rock band and i also work out front as the audio Eng. running a 55,000 watt pa system for a living. yeah its hard on the ears , but i also fly (air pressure) so i also know where that may play a role. How to make it stop???? with out any of the information i have asked for it would be impossible to answer in a broad spectrum answer with out saying you have to stop just about everything that your doing. So look at every aspect of your daily life and see what may be causing it and do your best to change that . it will take about a week to stop when you find the cause . i hope you haven't suffered permanent damage from the real cause .

I have it quite bad, and medically there is no cure (according to my doctor). It's sometimes caused by different medications. In my case, codeine, steroids and a drug I can't remember at the moment as I am not taking it. Therefore, if you are on any medication it depends on whether you really need to take, in my case I have to as I have emphasema. One person I know who suffers really bad with it, goes to bed with a MP3 player, playing his favourite music, to drown out the noise and lull him off to sleep. I would google it and see if there had been any medical advancement or maybe a forum where you can find out how other people cope with it. Good luck,
