What was school life like in the 1970's/1980's/1990's?

In some ways, it wasn't very different. School lunches were awful, we moved from class to class when the bell rang, had lockers, and kids who misbehaved got detention (I never did, though, so I can't tell you what that was like). Some differences: Girls had to wear skirts or dresses. Jeans were not allowed for anyone. We sat in rows, worked individually, and almost never did group or pair work At my school, at least, we were free to go off campus to have lunch. There was a shopping mall across the street. There were fewer rules and regulations. If I'd ever told my parents that "my teacher lost my homework" or "my teacher was unfair", they'd have told me to be quiet and do what the teacher said. Teachers were respected and parents backed them up. It made a big difference.
