  • Answer:

IMAX is really, really big. The screen is about 4 stories high. 3D is a movie format that, with the help of special glasses, look 3 dimensional. Either the backgrounds look like you can walk right in them, or sometimes images float in front of the screen.

IMAX is very high resolution video projected on a 7 story high screen. The Dolby sound is awesome and the picture is crystal clear. 3D is the simulation of three dimensional images with the use of special glasses loaned to every viewer during the show. Most 3D glasses are polarized lenses which pick up slightly shifted images that are alternately projected on the screen so fast that you cannot see the switch. The two views replicate the way our eyes see, from 2 different points. The effect is "rounded" realistic images that appear to extend out into the audience. Many people will involuntarily reach out into the air to try and touch the images, they look so realistic. AND, IMAX can also do 3D. It is the ultimate viewing experience that was first pioneered at Disneyland in 1968.
