What does it mean when your RBC are high?

In my heamogram the values are rbc count 4.04 low, mcv105.7high,mch36pghigh,rdw14... what does it mean.?

  • HAEMOGRAM Haemoglobin 14.5 g/dl Packed Cell Volume 42.70 % Leukocyte Count, Total 5. 00 thou/mm3 RBC Count 4.04 ...show more

  • Answer:

hmmm... MCV is only slightly high, B12/folate will take care of that, otherwise, looks good. As a general rule a Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV) > 100 may indicate a bit of pernicious anemia. B12 with a folate chaser will take care of that.
