Is Cold water added to Hot water not good for health?

  • There's an ancient saying in my religion tht one should not add cold water to hot water to make it cooler, if one wants to make it cool- he/she must keep it in Water-bath or ...show more

  • Answer:

It won't do anything bad. Cold water molecules are moving around more slowly than the hot water molecules. They bump into each other and the energy spreads out. Eventually all of the water molecules are moving about the same speed. Hot water loses its heat to the environment, eventually it will cool down to room temperature. It does this by the water molecules bumping into the environment's molecules (and some evaporation) and having the speed of the molecules even out. If it cools down the same temperature as the hot water that was cooled with cold water, then those two samples of water will behave identically. There is simply no way you could tell the difference between the two after they reached the same temperature if you didn't know which sample was which to begin with.

It's not true - it's absolute garbage. Nothing happens to ions in water just because of a temperature change. Don't feel bad. Many ideas that come from religion are without evidence and are complete nonsense when you get right down to it.
