How To Get Past 401?

  • Answer:

You still have access to the money - the account is always yours. You can leave it there until you move to a company that does offer a 401k, or you can roll it over to an IRA at any bank or financial institution. Not all 401ks and IRA offer access to the same funds, though, so you need to consider which institution will provide you with the best rate of return. You can contact the HR department of your previous company, and tell them you would like to rollover your 401k. They will probably send you a form to fill out, and the new institution will need to know the formal name/account that you are rolling over from.
