How to prevent an allergic reaction?

Could Valium stop an allergic reaction or prevent one from happening?

  • Has anyone ever tried this? I am allergic to so many foods and just trying to figure out how different meds might affect a reaction..

  • Answer:

the only way that valium could appear to help an allergic reaction is if it isnt really an allergic reaction, but actually a psychosomatic reaction... in otherwords, if someone truely believes that they are allergic to something and they eat it, they can essentially make themselves have a panic attack that can mimic an allergic reaction... in that case, a valium would appear to treat an allergic reaction. otherwise, no, a tranquilizer wouldnt have any affect on an allergic reaction

No. Benzodiazepines won't work. Some antidepressants, notably doxepin, do have strong antihistamine properties, though, just for general information. I wouldn't want to rely on them too much, though.

No. Benadryl stops allergic reactions. Not valium as this is a sedative which is very addicting.

Valium has not use for allergic reactions..... Benadryl does.... But you should really see an allergy specialist.
