Answer:
this is obviously chronic and has been overlooked by your doctor. yes see a specialist. your parents must be involved i guess, or at least able to offer you health insurance coverage for the doctors visit. some possibilities include; 1. staph infection in the sinuses, 2. a foreign body (not as in UFO/alien) trapped in the nose, 3. are you abusing drugs, 4. a pathogen taken up residence in the turbinates maybe. it's possible that something simple can help. try flushing your nose with salt water 3 or 4 times per day. make a mixture of 1 teaspoon of table salt to about 6 ounces of warm water. if you have an eye dropper then squeeze about a teaspoonful into each nostril letting it go to the back of your throat. it may burn a little at first and probably make you cough or gag. but at worst it will feel like when you are swimming and swallowed water through your nose. l try to let the stuff not get in my lungs, because that is why you'll likely cough. its a protective reflex. this might help if you have something simple going on. it may flush out the passages of debris. if bleeding occurs it is likely because the salt disolved a clot, or stirred up some tissue that was already inflammed. the salt water itself will not eat away good tissue, nor make bleeding occur in a healthy nose. if you are prone to nose bleeds anyway then see your doctor for that. dried blood in the nostrils is very smelly, in general this is a safe type of self care but consult your doctor if you think its necessary before doing this.

DITCH THE NASAL SPRAY!!! Part of your problem is what's known as a "rebound effect." The spray breaks down your nasal and sinus membranes, and that helps you breathe, but then as a defense, the membranes come back sooner than before and you're back to square one. You have to go "cold turkey." This means dealing with the stuffiness. Tell boss, friends, etc. that you are weaning yourself off nasal spray and will talk like you have a clothespin on your nose for awhile. I was hooked on Afrin for about two years and was able to break the dependency in less than 2 weeks. ABC's "20/20" show had a segment about nasal spray; they interviewed a man who had been hooked for 10 years -- he got off the stuff after 2 months. Sooner you nip that one in the bud, the less of a problem it will be. That's the first thing. Reject any doctor's advice to go back on nasal spray. If your problems persist after you're off the spray, then you can address other problems you might have. It could be an allergy. You might be a candidate for corrective surgery. But don't stay addicted to nasal spray. It's not solving your problems, just masking them.

You have a bad sinus infection...go to an ENT and they will prescribe an antibiotic

You might want to get a second opinion. I'd go to an ear/nose/throat specialist if I were you. I've had allergies, sinus problems, and post nasal drip most of my life. You could possibly have a sinus infection which will need antibiotics to clear it up. A specialist can also give you tips on how to treat your particular condition (things like using a humidifier or vaporiser to keep the air moist so your nasal passages don't dry out).

There could be a variety off issues. You need to see an ent and i would also recomend another dr. Claritin is an over the counter drug. there are also singulair, clarinex, zyrtec and other things that a doctor can prescribe for allergies. Get your adenoids check they are in the back and do contribute to post nasal drip as well as smelly breath, once my daughters were taken out it help so much. Good luck

Get to a specialist, and stay away from that quack that keeps you on drugs! Nasal sprays over time will narrow your nasal passages to the point that you will have to have them surgically repaired. This is a horrible surgery. Sorry to say, as if you were a woman, you would rather undergo another hysterectomy than have this done. A sinus infection can also effect the brain. I only use X Clear a saline nasal wash. Did you know that allergies are an attack on the immune system, from a build up of toxins at the liver? You need to do a liver cleanse, but do this first: go to http:www.oxypowder.com, read about the benefits of Germanium 132 under the questions box. This stuff cleans out impacted waste in your digestive system, and oxyegenates you. This is where health begins. I try to stay away from conventional doctors, as they are good for certain things. But they will treat the symtoms and not find out the cause. This is where they keep you returning, keep you addicted, keep you going back. Drugs, over the counter and prescription, are crutches, and long term use will turn you into a cripple. See the specialist, good luck, I just thought I would tell you what I know. Get well soon!

For sure you need another doctor. It could be something as simple as a sinus infection. All you would need is a round or two of antibiotics.
