you can ask the service provider to aleast pass a msg to your long lost friend.if the line is still in use.

If the number is directed to a voicemail thats mean the number is still in use.. If he/she has deactivate the line, u will get an operated voice saying "The number u called is no longer in use". Keep on trying. Maybe ur sms did not get thru coz sometimes my friend send me sms from USA and i didnt get most of it..
