Am i allowed to supplement my nys U.I. benefit?
-
i am laid off and my u.i. benefits are not enough to make my monthly debt.. am i allowed to make money to supplement it.. or do i wind up with no more then i get regardless

Answer:
For each day of the week you work your benefits are reduced, even 1 hour per day is considered "employed for the day". I think if you work 4 or more days in a week you get 0. If you earn the same or more than your weekly allotment, you get 0. So, in reality, no you can't. It gives people a bit more incentive to find a real job. http://www.labor.state.ny.us/ui/claimantinfo/beforeyouapplyfaq.shtm#9
