    Buy them something that is Made In U.S. That's what my teacher recommended to me when I traveled to China. I don't recommend food like chocolate because who knows what may happen to it on the trip. A girl from new Hampshire bought her host family maple syrup and a coffee mug with a moose on it, so maybe something nice and convenient that is US made (make sure of that), and maybe represents the state you're in. Just an idea.
