it better to go to a tour company coz it more secure than going pn your own

Try private safaris(KUON group) they are good.and yes you can go on your own(make sure you hire a 4 wheel drive(Rav 4 goes for around Kshs,6,000 per day landcruiser-Kshs.16,000 per day for self drive and excluding fuel). If you have a friend in kenya its better coz he can take you around

Abercombie is good - www.abercrombiekent.co.uk/kenya Kilele Tours and Safaris - www.kileletours.co.ke Silverbird is okay - www.silverbirdsafari-africa.com African Paradise is worth a try - www.africanparadisesafaris.com Yes you can go on your own, you don't have to use a tour operator but if you are not familiar with the country, you might get into problems, especially with the road conditions and the way the police behave. Other road users are a problem and if you are not used to the style of driving in Africa, you might have some difficulties. Hotels and lodges might not give you the discounted prices they give the big companies, so you may save money one way and lose money another way. Perhaps book a tour company (for the major trips) when you are in Nairobi and try to go on your own the rest of the time.
