i would have to say that teaching yourself isnt exactly a good idea. but its definetly possible, put your mind to it and work hard and you can get it on the floor in as little as two months? maybee. but it wont be perfect, if you go to a tumbling gym or have a coach spot you a few times at a open gym, they can give you good tips so you can get it perfected on the floor faster. good luck!

Here are the steps to doing a back handspring. The trick is, that you have to trust yourself. 1. bend you knees into a crouching postion 2. swing your arms back and forth. 3. swing your arms over your head and jump off. 4. to a backbend and flip over, but in a faster motion. Hope this helps you. :)

First you need to get two spotters and a gymnastics mat. Then try to do one with the holding your back as you do one. They can help you flip over and not land on your head. Then once your halfway comfortable with that try with one spotter and then with none. Its really about confidence and you can obtain that by the spotters. P.S. get people you trust haha Darren

it rele depends on how u kno how to do it like basically. if you don't kno how to do it at all go to like a gymnastics place and it will help. keep ur arms locked do excersizes to make ur wrists stronger (if they are weak they will hurt!) return? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081209155639AA3WyP3

It is REALLY not a good idea to try it on your own. I do know that some dance studios give you lessons for free. Nobody wants you getting hurt by doing it wrong. You should really have some REAL instructions. It's not exactly a piece of cake.

It will not take that long but before you start just trying flips, have someone help spot you for a while because it helps. To learn a back handspring have someone put a hand on your lower back and the inside of your knee and then jump and flip backwards. If you start with a spotter it will be easier to make the transition into doing it on your own. Good luck :)

Just to do one.. shouldn't take longer than one afternoon. You should look for online videos.

SethSpeaks

it might take a while depending on how confident u r in urself

i would say go somewhere to learn or get a friend that knows how to, to help you. i can do one, but i have a trampoline so it was easier to learn on it..but i just say be careful and i should take like a few weeks probley! goodluck!
