  • Answer:

Well I think the 50k a year is the very min that they bring in. I have been in the business for many years now( over 20) and I make over 100k a year. I feel I'm under paid compared to some of my fellow buds in the same business. Of course this depends on were you live, but I'm thinking from one side of the country to the next (east coast to west) and even in the states were the pay may be way lower than Calif., I would assume you make more than 50K. It's a great job and is very rewarding for me. I get to tinker with great stuff. If this is you then you have a great future ahead of you. Math is a must and I liked math and was strong in math in college and high school. There are many colleges out there to choose from and what was best for me may not suit you. I went to trade school to start and then a Univ later to finish. It only took 4 years, but for the years invested, you will get more bang for your buck. Good luck

In high school you'll need to take up to Calculus for sure; otherwise you may not get into a college with a good engineering program, and that wouldn't be very useful. In college you may not take that many classes labeled math, but they will use a LOT of math. Electrical engineers use electricity to make things we use. Like speakers, electronic components, and all sorts of other things.

yes... if you want to be an engineer, you'll need a lots of math... but if you dont like math, there are too many options, like law or medicine... dont worry about the money, it will come with the time...
