1) Dunlop EXD Mens Golf set, 16 pc --> 149.99 ( 450 cc driver, hybrid 3 iron, standing bag) 2) RAM Alpha 17 pc Golf Club Set, mens --> 199.99 (17 pc set, clus ...show more

Answer:
At this stage of your game, either is fine. The quality of your game is more dependant on your swing and not on your equipment. And hey! Welcome to the club! You gonna have a big time.

I took my Wife to the local "Dick's Sporting Goods" store, here in the Green Bay, Wisconsin area. For a complete starter set of clubs, with drivers (1, 3, &5), irons (4 thru PW, & including a SW), putter, bag /w/ cover, and driver covers. all included for a discount price of $149.99. The next up set was with hybred clubs included, for $199.99. We got the $149.99 set for my Wife, and she loves it! Men's sets can be found their, too! Their website is: dickssportinggoods.com The sporting goods store we got them from (Dick's) has competitive prices, and better quality items than you would find at Wal-Mart, or other discount stores. Shop around first! Don't buy Hybreds separately from the clubs! Look for a starter set that has all you need as one set!

If you're into the RAM set and want to save even more, you can get the Craigton set from Target for only $128.99. http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_5/602-7075138-1532642?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000JQWL4I

Go with the Ram

Definitely buy the Ram, they are better clubs than Dunlop, while offer a Hybid which is the wave of the future, the Ram is easier to hit and more consistent. This is a subjective response and it really depends on where you are going with golf. If you intend to make it a regular thing start with the better set. If you just want to play the occasional company tournament and play a couple times a year save your money and by the Dunlop. If you are very serious, instead of a starter set get a used set of Callaways, pings or some good clubs that you should be able to pick up under $300. Check out ebay.

Get the RAM Alpha. Get used to using all the clubs because the other sets only let you experiment with certain clubs. When I started at 12 I had a 5 peice set and it was okay but now I need all the clubs. Even for the 50$ more get the second set. You will enjoy knowing what and when to use clubs for certains shots, distances and what kind of roll you want. Anyways good luck with learning how to golf. Its going to be EXTREMELY frustrating to begin with then soo soooo sooooo awesome.

I say Dunlap. It's always better to go with the brand of clubs that the pros use.
