When I get my permit in California, who can I drive around?

After I get my drivers permit(California) can i drive to work and school alone? ?

  • I've that if a guardian signs a paper saying something like "I allow my daughter to drive to and from school/work alone." is that true? HELP! or do you know somewhere I could call to ...show more

  • Answer:

YOU MAY NOT drive alone with only a Calif. permit. You risk loosing the permit IF you were to be stopped for any traffic violation. You are expected to be "learning" during the permit phase of licensing. If no licensed driver is in the car with you, how do you learn or avoid mistakes? When you were handed your permit, the DMV clerk told you (AND IT IS WRITTEN ON THE FRONT OF THE PERMIT) what the law is. Ignorance is NO excuse for failure to follow the law.

Call the Department of Motor Vehicles, and ask this question. Usually a learners permit requires a licensed driver to be n the car.
