about.com is a good site. but if u want to study from a book u can buy campus it is all in french but it has pictures and u can manage with a french-english dictionary. but i think u'd better go to a class for 1-2 terms and then continue urself cause the pronunciation is important.

im looking into learning Japanese myself and i am considering trying out Rosetta Stone software..i have heard that it is supposed to be a very good program that is even approved by NASA. Rosetta Stone has 30 languages to choose from and is supposed to be much different yet still much easier to learn instead of using common languange courses.

google bablefish this will bring an online translator you put in your words or sentence and this will translate it to french or any other language you wish their are links on bablefish to free on line lessons which are pretty good i learned spanish in two days good look n arevoir

I think you could take a class in your hometown or collage in france.

books....but if u were italian it was a bit easier.i live in italy & i cAn speak italian, english and french isn't so hard!! take care, bye bye!!

to learn french you need a text book called entre amis! is like 140 dollars but you get a workbook and 3 cds with pronounciations! is a great book i read it a couple of times and i can handle a simple converstation in french! is not an easy language especially with Dont the pronouns and subjects and conjugations.

i signed up for a free course on about.com and i play french cd's mixed in with my regular music. once i have all my basic conversation book memorized i'll feel more confident to take a class. i'm shy about speaking in front of others especially if I know i'm not saying it right.
