What do you think of a democracy with freedom of speech but not freedom from hunger?

The only way the Government can guarantee all it's citizens freedom from hunger, is by supplying all their food itself, which is impossible, because the Government would go Bankrupt, the country would break down and be taken over by some other meaner government. That's why here in tlhe US, the Republicans which are for smaller Government, have to be in power about half the time. The Democrats which always vote for anything which expands the Government, giving benefits to it's voters. But if so them the Government would go bankrupt. Historically Democrats only last about 200 years, at which time everyone has discovered they can approate the State Treasure to themselves, causing the Country to go bankrupt. :)

Wow! never thought of it that way. freedom from hunger would be more important than freedom of speech in most cases. but it would still be important enough. I can't imagine being hungry all the time, except during months long diets I went on time and again and lost considerable weight. but for it to be forced on you by circumstances that SUCKS! freedom to enjoy wants and deprivation and injustices, that is provocative. in fact those freedoms the rulers and rich people don't mind protecting. sorry your country is so hungry. wish I could help. both freedom you are referring to uses the mouth.. but totally unrelated. let me return the question to you.. would you rather enjoy the freedom from hunger rather than that of the speech?

i think india is in her early age.but don't foget inda is economically developing and all these fundamental principles are the base of indan democracy. as for as hunger is concered india controlled very much till now

All items that are free and not scarce would be given for use with with full freedom . Scarce Resources cannot be doled out free - You have full freedom to be hungry!!!

Indian are progressing, and we all are money minded and money motive mostly. There is no harm to do anything which does not involve nay financial attribute. That is why speech is free here. But who will spend to feed the hungry people !!
