What is good cheap truck for a teenager that is usually around $2,000 to $6,000?

Toyota makes the best trucks reliability-wise, but they are expensive, even the really old ones. My top pick would be a Toyota Tacoma. If you end up buying a truck for $5-6K, then check Autotrader.com, if you're going for a cheaper one, then go to Craigslist - there are a ton of vehicles there for $1-3K. I've bought several really cheap used vehicles before and I've always bought Japanese, they definitely hold up better. Also, if you save up $6K, then buy a truck for no more than $4,500-4,800. NOBODY sells a truck at that price that is in perfect condition. You can usually expect to drop in at least a grand in repairs within the first couple of months. After that, if you're lucky, then that's it. Or it could cost you another grand or two if there are more problems than you noticed when you bought it. So go with Toyota if you can, if not, Nissan is pretty good too. Out of domestic ones the only one I'd touch is Ford, they are much more reliable (check Consumer Reports) than the rest of the bunch.
