Answer:
Check out Federal Student Aid Web Site or FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ I suggest you explore all federal funding and grant options at the Federal Student Aid website http://federalstudentaid.ed.gov/ You may also want to read the Handbook of the Pell Grant -- this is an 86 page document that contains everything about the grant http://ifap.ed.gov/sfahandbooks/attachments/0203Vo3MasterFile.pdf Or you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/gtepfpg.pdf at 1-800-433-3243 and ask them if there are any programs for you Aside from FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov and Pell Grant http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/index.html , you may want to explore private foundation grants Also check out Fastweb http://www.fastweb.com For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center's Foundation Grants for Individuals Online http://gtionline.fdncenter.org . It's a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) and their opening blurb says that the database is ideal for "students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices." You may be able to find grants from private foundations.

Check it out Ernesto...all you have to do is go to fafsa.gov (the free one, there are a couple of fafsa.org and FAFSA.net that are pay sites that just direct you to fafsa.gov. there is one comprehensive online application that takes a good 45 min to 1.5 hours to complete. Once completed you'll have to electronically sign by setting up a 4 digit password that is your lifeline to student loans as well. The Pell grant is what you want to start with and then I would suggest going to Wells Fargo (the link is on fafsa.gov) and apply for the federally subsidized loan (the fed subsidy deferrs interest because the gov pays while you are in good standing and taking at least 6 credits per term). Good luck man...you can email me with any further questions. edit: the gov goes by your last years w-2 tax statement in order to determine the amount and size of your grants/loans/scholarships. If you are living with mom/dad/both then the gov uses their previous years return. If you are from a low income situation then I would suggest hooking up with TRiO, just google the name TRiO and apply they can help you a heck of a lot with the application procedure and enrollment/orientation.
