Where can I get a foreign birth certificate certified in the US?

Can i use my regular birth certificate to get passport if i dont have a certified one?

  • yes can i get a regular birth certificate? i dont have a certified, or do i really need a certified?

  • Answer:

i am assuming you are in the US? NOTE: A certified birth certificate has a registrar's raised, embossed, impressed or multicolored seal, registrar’s signature, and the date the certificate was filed with the registrar's office, which must be within 1 year of your birth. Please note that some short (abstract) versions of birth certificates may not be acceptable for passport purposes. http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/first/first_830.html

You need a certified birth certificate. Call the County Clerk in the county listed on your birth certificate to find out how to go about getting a certified copy.

You have to have a certified one to get a passport.. and it can take up to 12 weeks to finally get your passport.. so you need to hurry if your needing it soon..
