Can I take an AP exam if I am in College already?

If high school students can take community college classes for free, why do we have to pay $95 for an AP Exam?

  • I think paying $95 for an AP exam is ridiculous, the SAT costs less than half of that. And when we apply for colleges, it looks bad if we don't take it. I wouldn't mine taking ...show more

Have you asked if , say the "Governors Grant" would cover the costs of such testing? Make the Guidance Counselor do their job, or at least ask to borrow their filing cabinet and file for the grants yourself. ME! I know what can be done by beliving in yourself and others as a team... getting the youth to learn this should have been taught in the first grade... .

The US education system is a business with ignorant people going in at one end, and slightly poorer ignorant people coming out at the other. It exists to make profit. You are in some sort of Socialist Utopian nightmare, where people get educated based on what they need and can assimilate, rather than what they can afford. Wake up! Once you get that sort of situation, and you can't lock your kids into being better than everyone else because they are richer than anyone else, it's all just work, work, work. Don't buy into all this "better educated people get better jobs and pay more tax over their whole lifetime" hoop-la. You believe that, and you'll have people looking on education as an investment by the state in it's citizens next. Where do you think you are; Europe? Canada?

Its because credits cost like several hundred a credit, and for $95 its a bargain. Also if you do pass the exam, and get the credits, its pretty much usable in most colleges. I do not believe that "it looks bad if we don't take it". It's a plus if you take it and do well, but if you take it and do bad- it just looks horrible. And if you do bad, you are allowed to not submit it anyways.

I think you have to look at the history of AP. It wasn't set up for those with financial difficulties - but for those from affluent backgrounds who wanted a head start to college. Thanks Bill
