  • Answer:

Don't rule out the Ivy League simply because you have a 3.6 GPA. Admissions committees look at many factors, including test scores, extracurricular activities, essays, etc. If you are really interested in an Ivy, take the initiative to as for an informal meeting with an admissions counselor at the school that most interests you. If you want to be a high school History teacher it doesn't make sense to go to an expensive, elite school. Go to the best school you can afford. It is so hard for history professors to find jobs these days that there are very few history professors out there who are doing a bad job. In other words, any good university will have a good history department--so just choose a reasonably selective university that you can afford.
