How can I become a sports analyst/writer?

Are you currently writing about sports for your high school newspaper? That would be a good place to hone your writing ability. If you live in a small town, you can see if your local newspaper will let you write articles for them about high school sports. Focus on the lesser known sports (not football/basketball/baseball) and make sure you write your articles in a good journalistic style. (If your high school offers a journalism class, take it. Or take it in summer school.) It's harder to have an impact if you live in a big town, but you can see if you can volunteer for your local newspaper in the sports department, doing whatever needs to be done. You'll be making contacts, learning the business, and seeing what you'll need to do in the future. For every talking sports head on TV, there's a staff of writers in the background and that's usually where you have to start. When you get to college, choose a school with a strong sports program and strong majors in journalism or communication.

Take AP's/honors, get a good gpa, participate in extracurriculars - so you can get into a good college. Then, major in journalism or something.
