Answer:
2-years college = community college = Junior college 4-years college = university 2-years college is damn cheap, and classes are small. Warm educational environment lol...junior college or 2 years college is good but not as good as university because of academic program. But it is not that bad. University is highly expensive, but financial problem is not the problem. When you go to 2-years college, you get very little amount of grants. Even though university is expensive, the amount of grants is also high. There are three systems of universities: 1. California State University system: it is not bad but I am not a fan of this system. Honestly speaking, it ranks the lowest among the three. But the tuition is cheapest among the three. 2. University of California or UC system: They are super! lol...The best one is UC Berkeley and Second is UCLA. I am a fan of these two schools. 3. Private University: It depends but USC is a good example. USC ranks lower than UCLA and UC Berkeley and it is much expensive than UC. But it has many scholarships. My recommendations for UC are: UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, UC San Deigo, and UC San Fransisco. But Cal State Uni in Long Beach has pretty great Nursing program. Some nursing students go for Cal State Long Beach rather than UC. Tell you 1 thing, if you go to community college, you will have better chance to transfer to UC because you just take all required courses with good grades, bravo! you will transfer successfully. If you get into honors program or TAP Program in community college, 98% to get accepted into UC. The most complicated thing is to get accepted to UC from high school because they require you take AP courses, very high SAT scores, and maintain great GPA with admission essay. Well, for me, I am going to private university. I like Johns Hopkins University the most because my major is Biomedical Engineering. >>>If you like challenging, go straight from high school to UC >>>If you want something "just okay," go for Cal State >>>If you don't want to leave home early and hate SAT and AP Tests, go to Community College and then transfer for UC or Cal State lolzzz That's it....I was a valedictorian in high school and got accepted into UCLA and UC Berkeley because of my financial problem and family matter, and I also have to go for highest ranking university which I didn't get accepted. I made such a big mistake in life and I don't want you to be like me. Go for UC straight from high school. You can transfer to other schools after that... If you want to know more, send me emails.

Colleges and universities are better than community colleges, unless you're in deep financial difficulty and don't have good enough grades to get a scholarship. Luckily for you, California has an amazing public higher education system. The best options for you are the UC's.

The difference between a college and a university is that a college is smaller and is only undergrad, whereas a university is much bigger and includes a graduate school. A community college should really be your absolute last option--if you can't get in ANYWHERE else--because they are simply not seen as reputable in the career world (or by people in society in general.) Many people think that colleges are better because they are smaller, which means smaller classes and therefore more interaction with and attention from professors. But universities are wonderful too--it really depends on your preference. The best schools in Cali are UC Berkeley, Stanford, UCLA, USC, and Pomona.
