What's your favorite thing to order at a Mexican food restaurant?

    Depends on whether you are talking about real Mexican restaurant or an American Mexican restaurant. I'm going answer with the idea that we are talking authentic. I love Menudo, its a soup made with tripe and chilies and its a tomato base. Its a textural delight. After that I really love a good carnita, or Carne asada. Carnitas are usually braised pork and served with tortillas, carne asada is thinly sliced marinated beef that is quickly cooked and served with a corn tortilla and other traditional toppings. Tacos de lengua are really yummy if you can get past the fact that its tongue. It tastes like a wonderful cut of pot roast. Its so good. After that I love to eat tamales. My aunts all get together for Christmas and make nearly three hundred of these to feed the whole family. I eat at least fifteen. Other than that a good salsa can be wonderful on hand made chips, and I really really enjoy a deep fried tortilla with cinnamon and sugar.

I like Mole (pronounced like "Olay" but with an m) because my grandmother used to make it. It's a sauce usually served over chicken and it's made from chocolate, chiles, nuts and seeds and a bunch of other cool stuff! Muy sabroso! Kinda like a Mexican curry. Pozole is also good but not many "American Mexican" restaurants serve it. @Invisigoth, ME TOO!!! OMG, I love pupusas and Salvadorean horchata.

I love chile rellano and cheese enchilada. Try "Alcapulco" if you are in California. That is the best Mexican restaurant I have come across.
