What is the most effective way to read textbooks and how to combat procrastination?

  There is no perfect way to do any of it, believe me. This is what I do: I set reasonable goals that I know I can meet (ex. reading one chapter per day), highlight important stuff in the textbook, and then type up notes based on the highlighted stuff. I learn best by repetition. Plus, it's easier to remember if you put things in your own words. DON'T sit down and force yourself to read. You'll never remember a thing if you can't concentrate. Break up reading a bit. Read 10 pages, then have lunch. Read 15 more and go to the gym. I also procrastinate a lot, but as long as I don't overload myself, I can schedule my reading. If I only schedule 15 pages at a time, I cannot come up with a good excuse not to do it. I also find that I concentrate best when I'm somewhere that has no importance to me. I can't study in my dorm, or at home. I go to the library or something like that. Why? What else could I possibly get interested in there? J/K You'll get the hang of it. Best of luck.
