Did Congress intentionally want to lose the Delhi election, thus giving a chance to put Kejriwal against Modi and shielding Rahul?
-
Congress leaders did very few rallies in delhi as compared to other states. Congress knows that Rahul gandhi cannot give a fight to modi, so they needed someone who can stand against modi. Since anyone from congress cannot go above gandhi's, they started to look that person in other parties. Finally, they found that guy to be kejriwal. Their strategy might be make the fight as modi vs kejriwal, thus splitting bjp;s vote in urban areas and reducing its loksabha seats by 20-30. Given that youth are fickle they might end up voting to any of the 2 parties and splitting chance is high. After stopping bjp from getting majority, congress will give support to 3rd front and take support after some time, like they did in late 80's. With the passage of time, people will forget congress's scams and they can again gain good loksabha seats in the future elections. What are your thoughts? In the aftermath, congress has now given support to AAP, so this seems to be a clearly thought strategy. It has been successfully tested overtime, when MNS was created in 2009 in Mumbai, which cut BJP's seat by 10 votes, and congress MNS alliance came into power. Further, the amount of media coverage praising AAP even if kejriwal goes for shit, clearly hints it be a paid coverage. Kejriwal has recently said he doesn't have any proof of corruption, in contradiction to what he said before election, when he was shouting his lungs out, that he has 300 page report on Dixit's CWG corruption. AAP has also removed that 300 page report from its website. Prashant Bhushan has also said that he prefers MMS over modi. I am predicting if AAP cuts BJP's, AAP will support congress which will give rise to UPA III. On the other side, it is really funny to see all literate people being fooled by Kejriwal, which his anti corruption issue, hiding all the marxist policies his party have.

On 30 June 2013, days before election, Santosh Koli, AAP candidate from Seemapuri constituency in Delhi was run down by a car. She died due to resulting complications. The case was declared as an 'accident'. Previously, Santosh had reported death threats to her life. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santosh_Koli LN Sharma, AAP's candidate from Ghonda constituency was severely beaten and left injured on road. He was threatened with dire consequences lest he dared to contest elections. http://www.hindustantimes.com/specials/coverage/myindia-myvote/chunk-ht-ui-myindiamyvote-delhi/aap-s-candidate-attacked-told-not-to-fight-poll/sp-article10-1140560.aspx AAPs office in North West Delhi was attacked. The assailants forced the volunteer's head inside a bucket and left only when he was unconscious. http://www.firstpost.com/politics/aam-aadmi-party-office-in-delhi-ransacked-volunteer-attacked-653255.html AAP volunteers and candidates put their life on line to bring change. They fought against parties who were willing to http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/congress-and-bjp-may-spend-rs-100-crore-during-upcoming-delhi-assembly-election/1/308921.html and indulge in http://ibnlive.in.com/news/delhi-elections-aap-releases-video-of-alcohol-being-distributed-by-parties/437366-80-258.html While it is easy to sit on a keyboard and spout incredulous theories (I do it too), politics in this country is Blood, Tear and Toil. So believe me, when I say this, No one wants to lose deliberately and No one won Delhi because somebody gave them a lucky break. AAP against all odds, made a stunning debut, winning 28 seats.

I don't think so. The Congress pulled out all stops in other assembly elections and lost anyway. So even if they had campaigned in Delhi, they would have lost. (Which they did do) The AAP effect was just too strong in Delhi. Secondly, till now, as far as the AAP is concerned, while they seem to be equidistant from both the BJP and the Congress, as far as corruption and policies are concerned, they have less contentions with BJP than the Congress. It is very unlikely that Kejriwal or the AAP will become a Congress acolyte.

Do you think this is a conspiracy against BJP too? Suprise Surprise. What would you need to say, that, people are fed up with the mandate of the two parties that have till recently dominated the political alternatives in our country and are now going for a third party? Would Kejriwal's party have to defeat every seat in this country for him to earn your respect? The fact is both BJP and Congress have had corruption, and immoral ideals, attributed to their leaders. Congress has done a lot of work in the country good and bad. Same can be said about BJP. Both have been lax at tackling corruption and bringing about transparency. Both have given rise to religious political maneuvering, utilising caste, lingual and other lines to divide the people. AAP cuts through this bullshit. And talks only about a singular topic, does not mention what the old school politicians do so with such vim. But then again, if you think this is a conspiracy, there is little I can say to convince you.

One thing sure this Delhi election result congress not looking like looser and BJP after getting majority did not score point politically. Congress will use same strategy in 2014 general election if they find situation where they can't win they will aloow to move further third front. After result they will support third front and keep BJP out from ruling. Congress used AAP to achieve their goal.

Thanks for the A2A. And I am sad this question came up. I don't think Congress wanted to deliberately lose this election, but it is certainly true that many factions within Congress party did not support Sheila Dikshit and so did not work with her or in some cases, worked against her, leading to the kind of defeat she has faced personally and as a leader for her party in Delhi. As for BJP, it also had infighting in its ranks somewhat thanks to Vijay Goel having issues with Harshvardhan the moment the latter was put up as a CM candidate. But frankly, that's it. These were local in-fights, not some deliberate strategy on the part of Congress or BJP to lose this election to somehow pit one against someone else. Kejriwal has won because of his (and his party's) effort as much as because of infighting within both Congress and BJP. He led an intelligent campaign, and his dedicated party workers added enthusiasm to the campaign. And the fact that he was saying he was going to practice ethical politics while others were not doing so, did give people an alternative to the two parties. Rahul Gandhi has been badly exposed anyways by the terrible performance of Congress in all the four states. And Modi has been acknowledged even if he may not have had a major role to play in the three states BJP has won outright. So this Kejriwal business is not going to help anyone shield Rahul Gandhi, who has been proven to be a shirker and a loser.

She warned against contesting elections from Seemapuri constituency. When she ignored such warnings. She died in an "hit and run accident". The people behind the so called accident are still unknown. Former congress MLA Veer Singh Dhingan's 60 years old wife filed molestation charges against 26 years old MLA Dharmenra Koli (Brother of Santosh Koli) after he defeated Veer Singh Dhingan by a margin of more than 11k votes. read: http://www.firstpost.com/politics/congress-dirty-tricks-dept-at-work-against-youngest-aap-mla-1278177.html Also, Arvind Kejriwal defeated 3 time CM Shiela Dixit by a margin of more than 23k votes. This is how kejriwal was chucked out from shiela dixit's house while protesting. The fake Sting operation against AAP was carried out by a news channel which is owned by Manu sharma's father. Who is again a congress leader. Calling AAP Congress' B team is BJP's dirty way of defaming AAP.

1. Just after the result of Delhi elections was declared, without even concluding the task of forming/not-forming the govt. in Delhi, AK straight away started targeting NaMo and fighting him in Gujrat in 2014. This all shows that their only goal was 2014. 2. AK was not being prepared to be a vote cutter in Delhi but on a national stage. Why did Rahul Gandhi did more than 20 rallies in Rajasthan and only 2 in Delhi. And Sonia Gandhi did only 1. And no other tall leaders were seen campaigning aggressively across Delhi. It was as if Delhi was purposefully neglected. Sheila Dikshit knew that onion prices are the biggest concern for Delhiites and if that can come down it can bolster Sheilaâs position. She kept knocking at the door of Agriculture Ministry for extra supplies but nobody listened. In-fact trucks loaded with onions were to be dispatched from Mumbai for Delhi but it just DID NOT HAPPEN. This is what a senior Congress minister said on the day of result that they tried but it just DID NOT HAPPEN. Do you believe this. We all know what parties are capable of doing in the desperation to retain power. Fetching temporary supplies had suddenly become such a herculean task for Congress and it cost Sheila Dikshit dearly, very dearly. It is always someone's loss is other persons gain in business. The same applies to politics too. Saying Congress lost wantonly in DELHI to check Narendra Modi is quite ABSURD and FOOLISH. Whatever might be the case no political body would be interested to lose and that too in a place where it had three consecutive victories nulling its opponents. After such consecutive victories it could always turn for a next win for the government with quality governance which congress lacked in Delhi. The umpteen crimes in the capital led to loss of faith with congress while SCAMS turned out to be FEATHER in CAP of failure. The loss in hope is well intrepreted when AAP was formed turning to be a new hope for people to chose a new institution putting aside the established bigwigs in politics Congress and BJP. MODI effect, along with people loathing congress, is the prime factor for BJP securing First position in DELHI. While AAP chunked a noteworthy PIE from BJP's share.

Congress lost in Delhi because of there shear arrogance and inability to connect with the people. Believe me, no political class in this country or anywhere in the world wants to loose. If victory of AAP has done anything to Congress then its just that it has reinforced the fact that Congress is going to be out of power both from states and center soon.

I personally think that Congress, despite of any probabilities, did not want to loose intentionally. Its only the sheer hard work of AAP and their supporters that led to the result of Delhi elections. Also, Kejriwal, in every possible way is a better candidate than Rahul or Modi, both of whom are nowhere near in terms of respect and qualifications and agendas. I cannot imagine how people can forget what these people do to this country's blood and sentiments. Well, AAP emerged as a strong contender and will win too, if the game of next year's elections remained fair and just, and also if he too didn't get caught in the dirty psychology, manners, greed and corruption of politics. Let's see...
