Get a pickup for the acoustic guitar, and add effects. Most of the "distortion" is from outboard electronics, not on the electric guitar.

get an electric acoustic, or an aftermarket add on pickup. then any amp will give you a sweet sound. or a computer interface device will be nice too to get many sounds.
