How is life in Houston for a 16 yr old?

I first moved to Houston when I was 16 so I know how it feels. Weather is different than Illinois for sure, you see snow once every 10-15 years if that. The really frigid days during winter can probably be counted on one hand. Humidity will take a little getting used to, but it beats frostbite and hypothermia. Just stay hydrated and be mindful if you're doing anything when the heat index reaches 100 or more. Houston is an international city so most everyone you meet will be from someplace else. Girls are girls, can't offer you much advice about them except look them in the eye when you talk to them. Self confidence and earning their respect will have the ones you really want to date eating out of your hand. "Real" southern is a stereotype. You will meet people who have lived here their entire lives and show southern hospitality. Don't take this for granted, let them know their kindness is much appreciated and treat them with respect, and you'll have a friend for life. More people in Houston tend to dress the part of cowboy than actually own land with livestock, although you will meet a few who aren't the "drug store cowboy" types who do live that life. Again, respect will earn you favor with most anyone in Houston. Welcome, and good luck.
